Terms of use

Plain-language terms for a free content site. No accounts, no purchases, no small print designed to be skipped.

Last updated September 13, 2026

By using Grow In Backyard you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the site.

What this site is

Grow In Backyard publishes free gardening, growing, animal-keeping and outdoor guides. There are no accounts, no logins, and nothing is sold directly here. The only information you can give us is an email address, and only if you choose to subscribe.

Use the advice at your own judgement

Our guides are written carefully and researched properly, but gardening outcomes depend on your climate, soil, water, local pests and a good deal of luck. We cannot guarantee results, and following a guide here does not make us responsible for what happens in your garden.

Some of what we cover carries real risk — felling trees, running power tools, building with masonry, open fire, electrical work near water, and identifying plants, fungi and animals before eating or handling them. Where that is true we say so in the article. You are responsible for working safely, for hiring a qualified professional when a job is beyond you, and for complying with local regulations and permits.

Nothing here is professional, medical, veterinary, legal or financial advice.

Plants, foraging and animals

Never eat, handle or treat a plant, fungus or animal based solely on something you read online, including here. Misidentification can be serious. Confirm with a local expert or an authoritative regional guide, and take particular care with anything foraged, with children and with pets.

Affiliate links and advertising

Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend or what we say about it — see our affiliate disclosure and editorial policy for how that works in practice.

We do not control the sites we link to, the products sold there, or their terms. Buying from a third party is a contract between you and that seller.

Our content

The words, diagrams and page designs on Grow In Backyard belong to Grow In Backyard unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to quote a short passage with a link back. Republishing whole articles, or feeding the site wholesale into a product, is not permitted without written permission.

Photographs are credited individually beneath each image and are used under the licence named there — usually a Creative Commons licence held by the photographer, not by us. If you want to reuse a photograph, follow the licence in its credit rather than these terms.

If you think we have something wrong

We would genuinely like to know. Corrections are welcome at hello@growinbackyard.com, and we update articles rather than quietly leaving errors in place.

Availability and changes

The site is provided as it is, without any warranty that it will always be available, error-free, or up to date. We may add, change or remove content and features at any time.

We may also update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept the revised version.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Grow In Backyard is not liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its content. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case the limitations that do apply are the narrowest the law permits.
